Biography
Katy Arfai (b. Tehran, Iran) is a Sydney-based graphic designer and visual artist with nearly two decades of experience in the creative industry. She holds a bachelor's degree in graphic design and has been an active member of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) since 2008. Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including seven group showcases and four exhibitions she has co-organised, primarily focused on poster and logo design.
Katy’s practice has expanded in recent years to include traditional Iranian mirror work. Her journey began with a brief introductory workshop, followed by dedicated self-practice and further training under the guidance of a master artist. Her current work explores a fusion of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, breathing new life into classical patterns. Through the precise geometry and mesmerising beauty of mirror work, she creates visual narratives that express both personal reflections and shared human experiences.
Her passion for this intricate art form continues to grow. Unstoppable in its momentum, her love for mirror work transcends borders, rooted in a belief that the language of art and beauty is truly universal.
