My recent body of work, In the Flow of Light, continues my exploration of the relationship between form, light, and awareness. Each painting is a meditation on transformation — a quiet dialogue between the visible and the invisible, the material and the spiritual.

Subtle gradients of colour trace a quiet journey — from darkness toward light, reflecting the inner journey toward awareness. Circular forms appear as recurring symbols of wholeness and the infinite nature within us — representing the continual movement toward the centre of being. In some works, mirrors merge with or replace these forms, inviting the viewer into direct reflection — both literal and inner.

Rooted in Eastern and Persian philosophy and mysticism, my paintings are invitations to harmony with existence and the recognition of oneness — experiences where light, colour, and symbol become a universal language for expressing inner truth, awakening, and unity.

About the Artist

Born in Tehran, Iran, and currently based in Sydney, Australia, Morvarid Dastjerdi is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative journey spans painting, cinema, theater, and fashion design. She holds a degree in Film Directing and has extensive experience in visual production for both stage and screen. Her years of designing handmade evening and bridal gowns in her family’s couture atelier have profoundly shaped the compositional and aesthetic sensibilities that define her painting practice today.

Her relationship with painting began in childhood, when abstract image-making became a way to explore her inner world and give form to imagination. During her university years, she studied foundational courses in visual arts and color theory, which led to her early participation in student group exhibitions. After years immersed in film and theater, she returned to her first passion—painting—and has pursued it professionally ever since. She later refined her technique under the guidance of acclaimed instructors and has completed numerous commissioned works for private collections and commercial spaces.

Now based in Sydney, Morvarid continues to expand her artistic practice. She is currently presenting her first solo exhibition, *In the Flow of Light*, at Palangi Gallery. Curated by Farideh Zariv and inaugurated with a talk by Dr Nasser Palangi, the exhibition marks a defining new chapter in her career.

Working primarily with acrylics, gold leaf, mirrors, and mixed media on relatively large-scale canvases, Morvarid creates luminous and immersive compositions that merge abstraction with a refined decorative sensibility. Her works draw inspiration from Eastern philosophy and mysticism, often exploring themes of inner light, unity, and consciousness. Circular forms frequently appear as recurring symbols of infinity and wholeness—echoing her meditative approach to both creation and perception.

With a visual language rooted in light, form, and rhythm, Morvarid constructs contemplative environments that invite viewers not only to observe, but to participate in the unfolding dialogue between presence and transcendence.

My painting practice is rooted in the search for inner light — a journey between darkness and awareness, stillness and transformation. I see painting as a way to express the inner world, spiritual belief, and the human need to reconnect with truth in an age of distraction and technology.

Through abstraction and symbolism, I explore themes of unity, consciousness, and the wisdom that arises from self-reflection. Circular forms often appear as symbols of wholeness and infinity, representing the continuous movement toward the center of being. The color gradients shifting from dark to light mirror the spiritual journey of growth and awakening.

In some works, mirrors replace or merge with circular forms, creating an interactive experience that connects the viewer directly to the work. The reflective surface becomes a space of encounter — where one sees both the artwork and oneself, recognizing that awareness begins in perception.

My aim is to create spaces for reflection, calm, and an inner connection between the viewer and the self. Rooted in Eastern and Persian philosophy and mysticism, my works are an invitation to contemplation and harmony with existence — an experience where light, color, and symbol become a universal language for expressing inner truth, awakening, and unity.
